WILLIAM FAN “EXCHANGE” Spring/Summer 2027 Collection

William Fan opened Berlin Fashion week with their Spring/Summer 2027 collection “EXCHANGE” exploring cultural exchange and global interconnectedness. Drawing inspiration from international marketplaces from the souks of Marrakech to Shanghai’s antique streets. The collection seeks to highlight the emotional value of objects and universal human fascination: the desire to discover, collect, curate, and preserve.

The set in The Foundry was adorned with more than 800 unique objects from around the world sourced from FAN PLAZA, WILLIAM FAN’s gift and souvenir store serving as an antechamber to the brand’s universe. The objects acted as preserved memories to tell the story of how possessions and personal traces travel across time and space.

The collection combined function and fluidly moving between tailoring and relaxed leisurewear. The sport-inspired details such as zippers creates structured silhouettes whilst sculptural pleating provides volume and a sense of architectural lightness. The visual references embedded within the garments such as washes, treated surfaces, and deliberately aged finishes lend to themes of memories and storytelling. These intersections reflect a contemporary design language of openness.

Custom-designed stool in collaboration with USM using upholstered fabrics from the collection in the seat cushions extended the story of the garments into the surrounding space. Such details tell a story of fashion as more than the pieces themselves but part of the environment we live in.

The hair concept in collaboration with Swedish brand Björn Axén used Asian influences to create clean, precise silhouettes. The structured, gel-defined looks reinforced the interplay between form and function throughout the collection.
